The Mombasa "Tusks"
Just some historical explanations... :)
The Mombasa “Tusks” are symbolic representations of entrance into the heart of the town. The tusks were built to commemorate the visit of Queen Elizabeth to the town in 1952, as they lay directly on the path from the port to the town. Ivory was considered to be an exquisite commodity during the time, and in essence the tusks were meant to embrace the Queen and the British Empire into the town and within its social structure. Coincidentally the tusks also spell the letter “M” for Mombasa.

Matatu
Finally, I want to show you my main means of transport, a small bus , which here is called "Matatu"...
For Kenyans people, I think seeing a Wasungu ( that's the name attributed to white people here) on a Matatu is very strange...but for me it is so funny !!
Kenyans drives make usually a lot of noise....and they drive in a crazy way but sometimes they make me feel like a princess just because of the colour of my skin....it seems so strange to me :)..!
Also, when I walk along the streets, everybody want to say hello to me, take my hands (especially some lovely children )....but for the adults is different, they can be really nosy so, sometimes I feel quite embarassed and just a little bit annoyed... :(...! But, this is Africa !

My room here in Mombasa
And now I will show you my room and my neighbourhood here in Mombasa
Here there is a lot of rubbish along the streets...it is a terrible problem and apart from the risk of contracting some bad disease...there is also the presence of many many rooks...I can't stand them and their orrible racket !
